“ASX congratulates Object Trading as the first ASX 24 vendor to pass conformance testing for the New Trading Platform. Object Trading has passed conformance for all ASX 24 functionality as well as Multicast Market Data. We look forward to working with Object Trading and their clients for production implementation.”
— Paul Stonham, ASX’s Senior Manager of Technical Services
The ASX is upgrading the ASX 24 (futures) platform to the Cinnober New Trading Platform (NTP). The go-live date is currently scheduled for February 2017. The derivative products traded on the exchange are unchanged, but the technical changes to the platform are significant, including a new matching engine, new protocol, and new interfaces. The entire behavior of the exchange is changing.
Conformance testing concluded 9 September, and industry-wide testing is expected to begin during October.
Every firm that trades on ASX 24 or wants to start. (The equities upgrades will be happening in the future, so stay tuned.)
Why Is This Important?
If you want to trade on ASX 24 after the migration, you have to connect to the new platform.
What Do I Need To Do About It?
If you’re not using Object Trading, then you should ensure that your in-house and/or vendor connectivity software is installed and ready for industry wide testing. If you’ve not heard from your supplier yet, you should be following up with them immediately, or call us to get you connected and ready. If you connect directly to the exchange, then you should have completed conformance testing and be ready for the industry-wide testing.
What’s Object Trading Doing About It?
We’ve been ready for a while. We were the first vendor providing market access to the ASX to pass conformance testing to the upgraded ASX 24 NTP and were acknowledged as a key partner to the ASX in the process. (Read the press announcement here.)
What’s Object Trading Doing For Me?
If you’re an Object Trading customer trading on the current ASX 24, your technical team have access to the ASX test environment via Object Trading. Clients using the software only deployment model should already have the new beta release installed; those using the fully managed deployment model have the new software installed for them. All clients should now be preparing for industry-wide testing.
Object Trading will support technical testing by our clients. But clients should plan to participate in the mandatory Industry-Wide Test (IWT) and following Implementation Rehearsals.
What Else Do I Need To Know?
